Bars and Beer Bars in Pattaya

There are many beer bars in Pattaya. If it's your first time, let me explain how things usually go down.

You go to a beer bar, sit, and order a drink. The ladies will try to get with you into a conversation or try to play games with you. After some time they may ask you for a lady drink, which is a bit more expensive than a regular glass, she will get a commission on it. When both of you like each other, she offers you - or you can ask her, to go to your hotel room. You have to pay a bar fine; which is usually around 500 baht. This money is for the bar to let the girl go with you as they are losing a working girl for the time she's with you.

On top of that, the girl wants to have a “tip.” Most of the time, you are paying around 1000 baht for a Short Time (1-2h) and 2000 baht for a Long Time (the whole night). Note that it varies a lot, the bar-girl may ask more or less depending on how busy it is, on how much she likes you... there are many factors involved here. You can try to negotiate too, don't be shy. 

Many beer bars can be found on the infamous Walking Street, on Soi 7, Soi 6, Soi Buakhao and in Naklua (Soi Pattaya-Naklua). In fact, there are plenty of beer bars all over Pattaya. No matter where you stay, just look out of the typical bar-looking places with lots of girl sitting inside, blasting loud music and usually a lot of red/purple/pink lighting. 

Assure that you're not expecting a negative surprise when arriving at your hotel, make sure that you book a guest friendly hotel in Pattaya so the bar-girl can stay over in your hotel room at no additional charge. Some hotels will try to charge you an additional fee if a joiner is staying in your hotel room. 

Go-go bars in Pattaya

If you are headed for a go-go bar in Pattaya - often also called Agogo bars, expect a slightly different atmosphere than in beer bars. Agogo girls in Pattaya seem rather shy, they are usually on a platform in the middle of the bar with a bunch of poles. The poles are - unfortunately - rarely used. The girls on the platform just move around a bit, dancing and looking out for customers.

The majority of Agogo bars can be found in Walking Street. Agogo bars usually have a theme, such as nurses, pandas, and so on.. the list is long. Many Agogo bars also target a specific group of customers, i.e. Korean visitors or Chinese tourists - but don't be afraid to go take a look into any of them. 

Agogo bars always have security guards at the entrance. As long as you behave and don't look like you will be making trouble, you will be permitted to enter. You should not carry any camera with you, taking photos or videos in Agogo bars is strictly forbidden. Do not try to make any hidden photos, you absolutely don't want to get in trouble with any of the Thai or foreign Agogo bar owners or so-called "mamacitas". 

Agogo girls always wear a band, have a sticker on them or similar with their unique identifying number. If there's a particular girl you are interested in, just inform one of the servers, they will call the girl to come to you. You have to buy her a drink if you want her to stay and sit with you. Prices for these drinks vary, usually between 200 and 350 baht. 

If after a bit of talking you decide you like her, ask her out. She'll tell you the amount of money you have to pay to the bar (bar fine) and how much she expects for either short or long time stay with her. Note that these prices are always higher than beer bars. Agogo bars are more expensive to run and they usually have better-looking girls than beer bars. Expect a bar fine between 700 - 1000 baht and an additional 1000 - 2500 baht for her.
